The Hindi imposition row in Tamil Nadu took a different turn after Bharatiya Janata Party member and actor Ranjana Natchiyaar left the party and joined Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in a span of a day. 7m7-christmaspg

Announcing her departure from the saffron party, Natchiyaar wrote, "As a Tamil woman, I cannot accept the imposition of the three-language policy, growing hostility towards Dravidians, and neglect of Tamil Nadu's needs and aspirations."

This comes after Chief Minister MK Stalin slammed BJP for its alleged efforts to "impose Hindi, and then Sanskrit," in the name of the 3-language formula and that the platform for this was laid years ago by the Dravidian leaders. He also accused the Central BJP government of "betraying" the southern state and assured to take all steps for protecting Tamil.

Stalin stated, Tamil Nadu's 2-language policy (Tamil and English) has resulted in the state standing tall with good strides in school education, higher education, skill development and creation of employment opportunities.

Natchiyaar Joins TVK

TVK was celebrating its anniversary on Wednesday at a private resort in Chennai, reported NDTV and Natchiyaar joined the event as she shared her admiration for Vijay.

Natchiyaar reportedly called him 'the next MGR', referring to actor-turned-politician MG Ramachandran who was a Chief Minister for Tamil Nadu long ago and founded All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. She stated, "Vijay is the biggest hope for Tamil Nadu."

Natchiyaar in her resignation letter also wrote, "Not all children are linguists... and children need not be forced to learn another language. There is no dire need."

Natchiyar said, “I cannot accept and work with you as a Tamilachi."

“I joined the national movement thinking that Tamil Nadu is connected with the motherland, but should I still be here because of the alternative mother’s mentality that Tamil Nadu is different from the motherland? raised the question,” she added.

Leaving the party after 8 years, she said, “Therefore, I have started to travel towards the journey of a movement of my own, a club of my own, a leadership that gives priority to the advancement of women. From now on, this is my duty."

Even though the regional parties DMK and AIDMK are in logger heads over most of the political matter7m7-christmaspg, the row over 'hindi imposition' after BHP's three language formula push in National Education Policy has united the two.
